Kelly Ash is a horticulturalist, freelance garden writer, photographer and speaker. Kelly travels throughout New England teaching and lecturing about gardening and is an expert on herbs, kitchen gardening, bulbs and forcing.

All the wonderful things that have happened in my life over the last few years can all be summed up by the phrase, “My name is Kelly and I am a gardenoholic.” Yes, that’s right, from my sunblocked head down to my muddy little toes! I love gardens, gardening, plants and flowers (I know that may sound a bit redundant), but it’s true! I read … about gardens, I photograph … gardens and now I am writing about … yup, you guessed it … gardening!

While I have been at it a long time (read my About Me page to find out how I got here), I never realized all the places gardening would take me. I am so grateful that I am one of those lucky people who can make their passion their professional career and still love it!

Once I began my Botanical & Horticultural Photography business, I started blogging and realized how much I love writing about gardening (hmm … who would have thought it?!). I began writing for my Maine Master Gardener Newsletter as ‘The Down and Dirty Gardener’ and as I began blog-browsing I came upon Angela’s charming Parisienne Farmgirl Blog and Magazine!

Immediately taken by Angela’s lovely blog, and realizing she was looking for contributors for her new magazine debuting April 1st, I emailed her right away. So that is how I came to be here: Writing a regular garden feature in Parisienne Farmgirl Magazine called, ’Le Jardiner de Mer’ (The Sea Gardener). I am so excited for you all to see what the magazine has in store for the future! Contributing writers from all over the country and France, writing on a variety of subjects, photographs to drool over and it’s all in one magazine! You can see where all the jardin (garden) writing magic happens … here at my desk ( The desk always has a lot going on, but I hide it all before we have friends over)! And this was a ‘clean desk’ day …. look I only have 4 sticky notes on my monitor!

And as much I love writing about, photographing and actually gardening … I love cuddling up and reading about gardening too! I just picked this book up, The Untamed Garden, by Sonia Day. With all the cold and it snowing today I hope to snuggle in and crack it open!
